Wow! This week (and next week, despite my exams) is shaping up to be possibly the best-ever week of my young life. Justin Timberlake’s concert on Tuesday night next week, and tomorrow night…
Well. It’s a thrilling tale to tell.
I was visiting the Delta Goodrem forums on October 30 (Monday) around one-thirty in the arvo, and the administrator had JUST posted a message announcing a competition to win double passes to see Delta Goodrem (who, you must all know by now, is my favourite singer in the entire world) perform for the music show Vodafone Live at the Chapel, which is basically a live concert in an intimate setting (you can only win tickets through competitions).
“The Chapel” is actually Chapel off Chapel, a converted chapel (believe it or not) which is now a performance space. I’ve mentioned Chapel Street on here before, it’s a really, really long road with a lot of shops and bars. So, it’s a chapel that is located just off of the actual Chapel Street.
The admin’s message said: “Hey forum members! This Friday, November 2, you and a friend could be one of the lucky few to see Delta perform Live at the Chapel! Reply now to this e-mail address and you could be one of 10 to score a double pass!” So I did just that. I saw the word “competition” and I was off like a shot to Gmail. I typed an e-mail with my details in it and shot it off to Sony BMG [Delta’s record company].
And then I waited. And waited. And waited.
And finally, today, the waiting paid off. I jumped on the forum to check if anyone had won yet, and someone said they had received a call from Sony BMG. Alert! Alert!
So I RAN to check my mobile to see if there were any missed calls. Now, usually it’s my mother that rings, but the missed call that was there was from a different number.
A number that my mother does not call from, seeing as she generally doesn’t call from the 02 area code. That would be because 02 signifies New South Wales (and I am not in NSW).
My mind makes the connection: “Oooh. Sony BMG is in New South Wales!” I’m a bit quick like that, hehe. So my heart starts racing very very quickly, and I dial the number. Ring, ring, ring.
Someone picks up.
“Hello, this is Sony BMG, Ben speaking.”
Me: “Hi Ben, my name is Sonya (last name here) and I just missed a call from this number.”
Ben: “Yes, I have something to tell you.”
Me: “Oh my God. Are you going to tell me that I’ve won tickets to see Delta perform at the Chapel tomorrow night?”
Ben, who laughs: “Yeah, actually, I think I am!”
Me: “Oh my God. OH MY GOD. Are you serious?!?!?!”
Ben: “Calm down, Sonya, breathe!”
Me, all business now: “Thank you so much! Okay, are there some details I need to know about this?”
Ben, still amused: “Yep. You’ve won two tickets, so feel free to bring someone else, it’s at Chapel off Chapel tomorrow night at 6:00 PM, but be there by about 5:30 PM to check in. Are you over 18?”
Me, still not believing what I’m hearing: “Yes, I’m 19.”
Ben: “Okay, well, if you can bring some ID, that would be great. Congratulations, Sonya, and have a great time!”
Me, excited: “I’m sure I will. Thank you so much again!”
So that’s the big news. I’m very very excited that I won, and am really looking forward to tomorrow night.
I can’t wait to see Delta perform, plus it’ll be really awesome to meet the people from the forums!
Only question left is, what on earth shall I wear?
(And how do I concentrate in today’s driving lesson?)
